that makes saying goodbye so hard."

It is with very mixed emotions that I announce the closing of
Joyful Gestures Photography.
I am at a
place in my life where I am ready to SIMPLIFY…
What will that look like? I’m not sure! All I know is that I am ready for a new
adventure…
AND TO BE FREE ON THE WEEKENDS!
It’s been quite the ride, and it all started when…
After our children were born, having their photos taken became
a BIG DEAL to me. I put so much time and energy into what they would wear,
doing the girls hair, etc., only to get the pictures back and be disappointed
in the final product.
I remember buying a $44 camera from Target. Every time one of
our kids had a birthday coming up, I would take them out and do a little photo
shoot. After getting the photos developed, (remember that?), I would make a poster for our front
door for their party using my images. More than once, friends would ask me
where I got my photos taken. These conversations got me thinking…
Fast forward a few years, I decided to get my first digital
camera. I remember thinking I wanted to learn all I could so that one day I
could maybe start my own business. It actually happened much more quickly than
I had imagined…
Do you remember the days of NYS Sports for kids and the
dreaded night at Peter Piper Pizza when you would go to get team pictures done and
spend way too much money on tokens for your kids while you waited? I decided I
would offer photos to these sports teams by either going to one of their
practices or before a game, and they could opt out of the whole Peter Piper fiasco.
I got so many sports teams and I loved every one of them! I have done Senior
pictures in the last few years of boys I took back then when their uniforms
covered their whole body, they were so young! (You know who you are…)
The more I took pictures, the more I wanted to learn. I ended
up taking many classes at the Community Colleges, as well as some private
portrait classes. It was then a true passion for
photography grabbed hold of me.
Because of this passion, Joyful Gestures Photography was
born.
I was constantly learning new tricks and trends. No two
sessions were ever alike. AND THE PEOPLE… I met so many wonderfully amazing
people, (some of whom turned into great friends). Many of you have been there from the very
beginning and have continued to use me over and over again! And oh how I have
loved watching your children grow! I have even met with some families every
year for their annual Christmas sessions. Oh, how I have treasured that!

The best part of my business was meeting all of you. The
worst part was getting attached every time and wondering if I would ever see
you again!
I want to extend a HUGE ‘thank you’ to all of you who have been a part of my photography journey over the years. Thank you for trusting me to capture those special moments in your lives!
You have truly brought me so much JOY!
[ PLEASE NOTE: If you have not yet placed your order or would like to place an additional order, NO WORRIES! I will hang on to your images for quite some time.
I am just not scheduling any new sessions. ]
